Subtitle: An invitation to varifold geometry. A very charming (in the strong sense) little book but hiding the dreadful technicalities of the subject. Here is the first edition, with yellowing paper and worse binding (just glue), faults amplified by the scanner. A revised edition appeared in 2001 by the American Mathematical Society, with new illustrations. The bible on the subject, "Geometric measure theory" by Federer appeared in 1969 : thick, thickly written and not very engaging for the non-expert. Fortunately appeared in 1995 (last edition 2000) "Geometric measure theory: a beginner's guide" by Morgan, a very good book for any mathematician; this book was posted on avaxhome in 2007 but disappeared and I will post it again.
