Artificial Paradises (an English title) is a collection of art-philosophical esses by French poet Charles Baudelaire about the state of being under the influence of opium and hashish. Be guided by his own experience, Baudelaire describes the effects of the drugs and discusses the utopian way in which they could theoretically aid mankind in reaching an quot;idealquot; world.
In fact, he was a person who started a sort of the psycodelic experiments which were continued much lately by the numerous quot;followersquot; from rock-music world in 60-ies years of XX century. (I no wander now why Baudelaire's lyrics were always so popular among the musicians:).
Finaly Baudelaire had considered quot;artificial-paradises-substancesquot; as unacceptable for creative personality, however he didn't fall into a primitive copybook morality and was fairly impartial in his investigation.
