Marquette University Press (2000) | English | ISBN 0874621674 | 115 pages | PDF | 1.32 MB

The annual St. Thomas Aquinas Lecture Series began at Marquette University in the Spring of 1937. Ideal for classroom use, library additions, or private collections, the Aquinas Series has received international acceptance by scholars, universities, and libraries.

[Excerpt from this volume] Perhaps they made a great mistake in the twelfth century; they attempted a clear separation of philosophy and theology. But why should that be a mistake? Surely the difference is obvious (though it was not obvious to Augustine): philosophy starts with reason and is determined by argument; theology starts with revelation and attempts to clarify it. So, are we to suppose that natural theology would be philosophy and the philosophy of religion would be theology, even if by its failure to establish the clarity of any theological proposition it concludes to the non-existence of God?...
